Chateau Puech-Haut has been one of our favorite French wines for years, especially their Cuvee Prestige which always garners top 90+ point reviews and is an incredible value vintage after vintage.
So it is really no surprise that the Wine Advocate tasted and reviewed this wine and called it "as good as I've ever tasted from this format"! This is not your typical "bag in box" wine.
Owner/winemaker Gerard Bru commissioned the design of this 3 liter artistic barrel with a vacuum sealed inner lining that can stay fresh for up to 6+ weeks. He wrapped it in six different graphics designed by some of the artists that have done work for the winery. After you finish the wine, you can take the top off, toss the inner lining, and keep the barrel to use for anything you want!
Wine Advocate 89 Points
The estate non-vintage bag in a box release, the NV Pays d'Oc Le Benjamin (40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) is released not in a bag, yet in a classy, miniature barrel. It's entirely from estate fruit and raised all in tank. As good as I've ever tasted from this format, it offers rich, ripe notes of black cherries, bouquet garni and peppery herbs as well as a medium to full-bodied, textured, rounded style on the palate. It will be hard to beat for drinking over the coming couple of years.
